One of the DGP regions covered the northern portion of Mexico along with Baja California. After some investigation today, It appears that the Mexico region was made up of the four Mexican states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, and Sonora. When the DGP was last updated, the Mexico region was made up of 298 caches (see post). Today there are 2366 caches in all of Mexico and only 198 in the Mexico region. So since the DGP stopped updating, the number of caches in the Mexico region has dropped by a third.
I'd like to understand the interest in including Mexico in LonelyCache, so here is a place for you to vote.
Mexico
Re: Mexico
I think that lots of people go to Old Mexico and especially baja. I know that some of my greatest BC cache adventures have been there, and when some of this unrest settles, I want to go back for more.
on a selfish note, my undeniable # 1 cache is in Mexico. so I would obviously like to see that added to my BC pt total

Re: Mexico
What a bummer!
I sure was hoping to add Mexico. I am pretty disappointed in the limited response here
, as well as the consent to the limiting of the LCP regions. CC, I really appreciate the ideology of continuing the DGP, but I don't understand why people are against this. It is a game for all people, and the intent of geocaching is to get people out and about, to see intersting thing or to solve puzzles, or whatever is their favorite type of caching. We have just about completely integrated the old DGP regions and we have even added Wyoming. Not all people are going to travel to other states within the LCP to cache much less to other countries. But for those of us that do, we have experiences and stories that are amazing. I have been on BC adventures in AZ, CO, UT and Mexico. To be honest, one of my favorite and most memorable caching adventures was to Mexico. It took almost a year of planning with Mulligan looky lous and we were able to find one of the longest unfound caches of that time(it was the #1BC cache), http://coord.info/GC8C7 as well as many others. I realize that there are people that will never head to Mexico to cache, and I may never make it back...at least until things settle down, but to not include it seems short sighted, and a bit unfair. As a side bar: If there are that few caches in Mexico, then it shouldn't be that big of a deal to add it.
I do appreciate the people that took the time to vote, even if I don't fully agree. Just my $.02.
Thanks again for the efforts and growth of the LCP CC. The point system and game is what keeps me caching.

I don't have anything against Mexico but I never thought it should have been a part of the DGP. Caching in Mexico is something a LOT of us do not feel safe about in this day and age.

Re: Mexico
Well it doesn't look like there's a lot of support for adding Mexico. Actually, there wasn't a lot of support for this poll either.
I think the polls been open long enough so I'm going to shut it down. Thanks everyone for taking part.
