On 5-9-2012 CamminatoreAFK and I made it up to Wandering Jew Mine, LL 4/12, and Peregrine Perch, LL 07/08. A great day hike in Mueller Park above Bountiful, Utah. This whole mountain had been off limits due to construction of a new gas pipeline. It was great to be able to enjoy the area, as it had not really been visited for quite a while.

We also placed a new cache above it, Danny and Anthony's Terrific Traipse, which enticed Spaceship Earth to make the hike for FTF soon after us. Good Stuff, even if it does make those caches a little less lonely.

Dawg, since I saw you had solved it, I went ahead and tried it myself today (took me 10x longer than it should have because I was distracted by what must be a decoy). I'll add it to my list and try to pick up this little 17-Pointer when I'm in that area, so it doesn't feel quite so lonely! ;)

RSG...
I would love to share my LPC points with everyone on this site so come an get'm...
Here is one I got FTF with ET just a couple weeks ago, it had only been lonely for 10 months. awesome area though, Obama just threw 500K stimulas $ at the road up to the trailhead last summer so you might say its now minivan accessable but a still little bumpy. lots of nearby older caches nearby as well.. http://coord.info/GC341JD ... enjoy ~

Dawg, I was wondering how long that one would go before someone got that one -- 9 months is a good amount of time not to tempt some of the other backcountry cachers around here, but I suppose there was still a foot of snow up there until maybe 4 weeks ago. And only "6 miles" from my house, I should have tried, despite the 30-45 minute rocky road drive to the basin trailhead. First time I drove up to Inspiration Point (in my Explorer which we've since sold, stunning view from up there!) was Labor Day 2010. I had hoped to do some caching on the way up and down, but didn't get to for the same reason I haven't done any real caching this past week that I have taken off work -- sick kids!

If I could just get away from the house for a couple hours, I'd have two lonely cache finds to report here, both placed a year ago and not too far away and only found once -- making them worth 100+ ₧ now and 50+ to the next finder. Bet you and ET will figure out which ones I'm talking about out and go find them before I do! ;) Probably just as soon as beta testing starts here, although I don't think we'll have much (if any) search capability yet.

What I'd really like to do is go find some of your west desert BLM-land hides! But I need to get some more suitable transportation first. But maybe a family drive to a nearby confluence for a FTF is in order... :) But shoot, it's just barely in Idaho and won't get me any points! We need to get ID and WY included here someday. :D

That's great 8-) , wish I could have too :(

Just a reminder that you can use the gc bbc code to easily create a link to the geocaching.com cache page: GC2HWJV

Now that there's a link ;) I see that it's been quite awhile since that cache was found. The fossil is really neat!

Thanks! I swear my goal isn't to knock you down... but you find everything and usually FTF! Someone is bound to be finding caches after you find them at some point.

With the emai problems Groundspeak had yesterday, I hadn't even noticed you found A Piece of Pi. Nice!

And now for a special bulletin. I am sad to report that The Hunt For Sunken Treasure (5/4.5/Small), placed by Fire Elemental, also known as Cap'n Jack,... was archived this evening by its owner. Last valued at 517.2 ₧ and being the 4th Loneliest Unknown-type cache and 6th Loneliest of any cache type in the current LCP boundaries, GC139Y5 and had been found just once until this week when a self-described "pirate crew" of no fewer than 5 and perhaps several more, led by railroader921, ascended Sundial Peak from Little Cottonwood Canyon near Salt Lake City, Utah, to find the cache. This expedition and recovery operation was conducted with special permission of the cache owner, since the puzzle has become de facto impossible to solve. Having searched nearly two hours, all the crew had located was a small hatchet, which was signed and replaced near the location of the original cache, which is believed to have been muggled as feared. Although the "crew" did not find the actual cache, the cache owner permitted each of them to log Finds for their effort before archiving it.

GC139Y5 was aged 5 years, 2 months, and 1 day. It is survived by its owner, Fire Elemental, siblings The Last (575 ₧, unfound) and Fexx06 Puzzle Cache (525 ₧), three cousins valued between 100-200 ₧, and 110 other family members ranging between 1 and 75 ₧. A celebration of its life was held yesterday at the Lake Blanche trailhead. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Pirate Orphans Fund and keep on caching.

Not quite in the "no finds in one year category" but I happened to go on the old DGP site tonight and pulled up the page that recommends my "top 20 to find" caches based on points and distance. I was pleased to see that I have actually completed 7/20 caches even though I didn't have DGP or LCP to motivate me. I'm looking forward to seeing where my point total will be with the new system. Will it be higher because of my finds, or lower because my hide points are now in a separate category? I'm looking forward to seeing the answer!

That's quite a bit better than the 1,585, 5,674, 7,259 the DGP shows. :)
