FOUND IT? POST IT!

Post by railroader921 »

While we are waiting for the leader-boards to come into being if you find a cache that has not been logged in over a year please post your experience on the forum here.

Visited four caches today. Most of them have been found once or twice in the past year prior to me finding them but I made a killing on the points with them. The caches I found were as follows:

Over the Hill and Far Away
SunaSnataS
Devil's Backbone
Mount Comdex

In total after logging the finds I got 266 points off these four caches using the 100 points per year calculations.

WOW!!! :P Impressive! :o I have gotten all of those caches also and actually helped place Satan's Anus on the same day! Made the puzzle too.

I won't log it though-kinda strange, I know, considering the accepted caching ethics in southern Nevada

8-) Great Job mojave_rattler!!! 8-)

Kudos and congratulations to railroader921 (accompanied by Camminatore AFK, Cache MACS, and MarshallOD) for finding GCGYKK: Peak above Utah Jean (Formerly Holy Crap) yesterday! In its 8 years resting above Farmington, Utah at 7600 ft elevation, only 5 cachers had visited it, last official Found It log September 2007. At last update on DGP it was worth 160 CPs (should be 172). Its 4 new visitors make it worth 95 ₧. Great find, Danny! :D

So yesterday, Redfist, Azcampbell, and I had a hot grueling day battling monkeys. We ended up at Forbidden Zone - The Mug of the Monkey. The last (only) time it was found was Nov 14, 2010. It's great to get that monkey off my back ;)

Headed way out on the Az Strip to work on a water project with AZG&F and ADBSS. Took the Navajo Trail and picked up 5 caches that had a last log of 10/2010. These 5 were part of a 19 cache day and an 10 hour drive, 4 on pavement and 7 on dirt and rock. Project and caching went well only 2 rattlers and they moved away on their own.

I found another puzzle (Not Just For Geeks) recently that had gone for a while without a visitor, but unlike Monkey Mug (mentioned above) this one has had a ton of visitors (~65) in the past. It was first found on 7/14/2004.

I found it on 4/17/2012. The previous find was on 3/30/2011. My only guess is that all who wanted it had already found it. Then some idiot who didn't mind driving 40 miles for a single cache showed up with no good reason. :)

Congrats on the Monkey! and the other one nearby!

I had a few cool one yesterday (on my birthday!)

http://coord.info/GC16112 - had not been found since 10/13/2010 and, including my find, only has 8 logs since 9/18/2007
Also grabbed a FTF in a different city (that sat for almost 2 months down in the puzzle capital of AZ) http://coord.info/GC1TK1X

Oh yeah-also grabbed a total of 10 "?" caches yesterday too! That's like my 9th time for 10 or more in a day.
It also made 38 "?" finds for my long weekend and 61 for the month of April!

When I came back home from Southern Utah, I noticed this one, http://coord.info/GC31HYK, still hadn't been found. I was itching for a trip to the Northern Utah desert. So I called the cache owner and away we went. Had a blast. Nice long jeep ride, good company and the desert.......Priceless. We also placed a confluence cache at 42 113.

Took a little ATV ride with ETrunner to get 2 FTF's out a Mantua Ut, grabbed this little jewel while out. http://coord.info/GC216T6. had to splash through some mud and a little snow but it was gettin way lonely.
it had not been found for 19 months, go figure, its near a heavily used ATV trail in Summer time.

I was wondering when somebody was going to go grab that one (I actually figured it would be you). Congrats! Looks like a neat place. I definitely need to get out to eastern Box Elder for some of those desert hides, but the Missus is convinced there's a rattlesnake hiding in every sagebrush bush and under every rock and won't entertain the idea. I noticed on the cache page Desert Dawg wrote a placeholder for LCP stats, once those become available... Hopefully not too long! :D

And this one's only 8½ miles from my house! You retirees with ATVs have all the fun... ;)

I had a good week. Thursday I found Basset Peak (GCHPXV) which hadn't been found in 2 1/2 years. This is in a remote area but there is a trail to within 300 feet of the cache.
On Friday I found Winchester (GCR8M7) which was last found 37 months ago and also Stink Pig Peak (GCZCKN) last found 17 months ago. I hoped to make another find Arches (GC158ZB) which hasn't been found since March 2009 but I ran out of energy and time. These were all off trail adventures.
On Tuesday I also got a not so lonely virtual (Mount Wrightson: Baldy Summit GCC2C1) which requires 4000 vertical feet over 5 miles.

Found Bridge Mountain Summit (GCJ167) today. Prier to today it had not had a Fount It log in 680 days or about a month and a half short of 2 full years. The hike was much easier than I origonaly thought too. It's a hike that I would be willing to do again and again and again. I definetly made sure I gave this cache a favorite point even though it was a bit of a pain in the ass to find once I got to the peak.

With this find I also became only the third person to find all of the active caches placed my the cache owner ic_nevadamike.

Wow, that is a good week! I've had my eye on Winchester, Stink Pig Peak, and Arches for awhile now.

Last Sunday, I had a very enjoyable hike up the Horton Springs trail and I found Horton Springs Oreo. The last time it was found was just two days shy of a year ago. What a great area!

Congrats on the Winchester area finds. I remember that day quite clearly, especially the large amount of bear scat that I saw in the area. Luckily I had to fight through so much brush that they could hear me coming from quite a distance!
