I haven't been caching too much this year but yesterday morning, while backpacking the Arizona Trail from Mexico to Patagonia, I found Under a Spoon 15 Feet From Pass, last found 4 years, 9 months ago. Really great views from up there!

Found New Years Nipper http://coord.info/GC22JGT which hadn't been found since 2014. It was in bad shape and the owner appears MIA I had a replacement locknlock: not as good as an ammocan but should last for at least 5 years.

I'm not getting much caching in these days, but while down Tucson way to log Arizona Trail Challenge; I went a bit further out to snag "Satellite Deer", https://coord.info/GC2JF55. It hadn't been found in 1 1/2 years, and really not that far out.

I have found many lonely caches, but I have to admit that finding GC15EJ7 today for a FTF two weeks short of 10 years after it was published was pretty special.

I just have to mention that today I found GC15HFP in Idaho for a FTF 12 years and 6 days after it was published! Along the way I also found GC142Z1, which was a little more than 8 years lonely.

You've been finding a lot of lonely caches recently. Idaho is ripe for the pickins for sure. That's most excellent, congratulations Steve

I had another good day lonely cache wise. No FTF's, but I did find:
GC167DQ - Last found 10/27/2007 - 11 years, 10+ months ago
GC15NB9 - Last found 7/14/2010 - 9 years, almost 2 months
GC171EJ - Last found 4/16/2011 - 8 years, almost 5 months
GC3PF2Z and GC3PF3A - Both last found 8/12/12 - 7 years, 1 month
I also had a bunch last found in 2014.
Of course not all was rosy as I had a total of 18 DNF's today as well.

There has been a number of high point finds recently, probably more than ever before, especially between you and K Trackers. Recent Finds. (Yeah, I know this link will tell a different story in the next few weeks )

Unfortunately, some high point finders have been counting throwdowns. Kinda takes the fun out of it.

Managed to snag a FTF yesterday after sitting in the wild for 8 years, 6 months.
Found two others just down the road that had been waiting 5+ years since the previous finder.

Pretty nice! Too bad about the throw down earlier this year.

Yep, I should have received about 800 points on one cache and another 400 on the next cache, but both values were cut in half. I even sent a message to the false finder but they didn't change their finds to DNFs, imagine that.

I had another find cut in half when the CO "found" their own cache while trying to make headway in the Mystery at the Museum promotion.

Frustrating to say the least.

LonelyCache does not include owner finds when calculating points, so this should not be the case. If you look at the list of finders for the cache, the owner will not show up. See the third paragraph on this page of the knowledge book.

Yes, I am aware that owners shouldn't be able to find their own caches. What happened is the prolific cacher (and cache owner) ran out of unfound caches in their local area, so it was very difficult for them to get the Mystery at the Museum souvenir. As a result, they "transferred" ownership of several caches to a new account, and then "found" those previously owned caches. I doubt they even went to the locations, just did everything online.

You always hear the typical arguments in the GC forum about how one person plays the game doesn't affect other people, but in the case of LonelyCache, where there is a scoring system, I have definitely been affected recently by both issues. On caches with lots of finds, the affect is negligible. On caches with 0 or 1 finds, it is a huge hit. And nothing can be done about it.
