Re: FTF lists

If this site has anything to do with FTF, then I would recommend that folks have some sort of ability to 'claim' FTF on this site. This would keep the bickering over here where the stats are kept, not on other sites. That said, this would also mean there only be 'one' technical FTF. There can be mul...

Re: Point System ideas

Last time I worked with dates, it was stored as a real number. Anything left of the decimal was the date, right of the decimal was the time. Luckily, we aren't trying using the time portion. That said, it would be technically/mathematically easier and (due to leap year) more accurate to use 1/day in...

Re: Regions

Just thinking aloud. It may be overkill, but how about the ability to look at it from multiple angles? Folks that live on the edge of an existing region may associate with more than one region, the same could be true for those living near a State border. It 'might' make sense to have a DGP region vi...

Re: Point System ideas

I'm still for comparative data to keep a good perspective. Whether 1 point a day or .36 points a day, everyone will keep their place in line. What would change position is if we were to count Fred's visit, but not the 2 dogs he always bring with him. Or if we were to give bonus points for TB grab/dr...

Re: Branding

How about something more navigational, like a compass rose or a generic excerpt from a Topo map?

Re: FTF lists

True, the chances are slim of the first finders on the same day as the second finders (note: exception ) on Lonely Caches, but one needs to remember that this site is expected to track *all* caches, not just the lonely [backcountry] ones. Lonely caches just get a few more points in the scoring system.

Re: FTF lists

BTW: if a person doesn't say FTF in their log, then they are not claiming FTF. Please don't accuse them of 'cheating' when they didn't claim it.

Re: FTF lists

I wouls suggest that Loneley Caching FTF be claimed independantly of the Geocaching.com site. This means that a Lonely Cacher needs to make a specific effort to 'claim' the FTF. DGP would make it's best guess on who the FTF was. If DGP was incorrect in it's guess, as usually the case, then DGP folks...

First one on top of my head.

Ultra-Challenge points. Score as if only the top 5%(ish) point caches were included in the score.

Re: Thanks to ADMN.

Woot!

Of course, I now live on the coast of SoCal, and although I have been finding some of this areas back country caches, I doubt I will score very high.

Re: FTF lists

I just heard that in Perth, Australia, folks put an FTF card in each cache so there is no doubt who the FTF is.

I like the idea of FTF, but the excitement level is is disproportionate to the accuracy.

Would a valid FTF on the day of publication have a value of zero?

Re: Point System ideas

How hard would it be to do some sort of comparitive test? If sample data is available, lets see how individual caches look vs an accumalation We can discuss concepts all day, but looking at the results in real life would be great. Some things I am interested personally interested in seeing... If a c...
