Re: Newbee (to LC) questions:
Did you read my last reply here ? I believe it covers most of your questions, if not all of them. When I mention cache points, I mean, current cache points. If you have questions about how a specific cache is scored you can ask here, or on the LonelyCache cache page, expand the "Show cache poin...

Re: Calculating a Geocache's Score
One thing that doesn’t appear to be describe anywhere is this…. What makes a cache a “Backcountry” cache? I’ve asked via these forums, via direct messaging the site manager, via talking verbally to several other Geocachers. No one knows and/or will reply if they do know. I think this definition is ...

Re: Newbee (to LC) questions:
What 5 points? How are the points decided? I know the backcountry cache can be next to a paved road, and I got a cache that took 3 hours of off road trails that wasn’t a backcountry cache. It makes no sense. See the Knowledge Book Scoring Details for how caches are scored in LonelyCache. In a nutsh...

Re: Newbee (to LC) questions:
Hi, Here's my answers. For the year's top, there are two links. Currently, "Year's Top Cachers Leaderboard" for 2024, and "2023" for last year. For the backcountry leaderboards, a cache must have at least five cache points. "First Day Finder" is for everyone that finds ...

Hi, I have just updated LonelyCache. There was a problem where some finds would be missed when a cache was fully updated. This occurs every four months. I am pretty sure I have fixed the cause of the problem. However, any caches where this occurred may not include the missing finds for up to four mo...

Re: Site Update January 2, 2024
I really like the new look of the cache presentation. Having the logs right there allows us to stay on site instead of hopping to GC.com. Thx. Yes, I really like having the logs and their images available within LonelyCache too. I tend not to hop over to GC.com nearly as much as I used to. LonelyCa...

Hi, I just updated LonelyCache. Now that LonelyCache knows about geocachers' avatars, (see Nov 4, 2023 update), I have added showing the avatar as part of the name at the top of appropriate pages, such as a geocacher's hides and finds. The avatars are also shown on the home page.
Enjoy,
Russell

Re: How things are updating...
Just another update for this mid-October. The latest counts for LonelyCache: 355,887 geocaches, 38,166,143 finds, and 1,014,089 geocachers. We dropped about 2000 geocaches and made it over a million geocachers.
